What is Mood Dial?
Mood Dial is an iOS app that plays Apple Music based on how you feel. Instead of searching for songs, genres, or playlists, you turn a dial to a mood (like Energize, Focus, or Chill) and music starts playing. The app has 30 built-in moods and lets you create your own. It works on iPhone, iPad, CarPlay, Siri, widgets, and Control Center.
Do I need Apple Music?
Yes. Mood Dial plays music through your Apple Music subscription using MusicKit. It is a companion app, not a separate streaming service. If you have an active Apple Music subscription, Mood Dial works immediately after connecting your account.
How many moods are there?
Mood Dial includes 30 built-in moods: Energize, Focus, Vibe, Unwind, Rock Out, Explore, Happy, Chill, Party, Romance, Nostalgia, Spiritual, Workout, Melancholy, Sophisticated, Raw, Dreamy, Confident, Traditional, Futuristic, Rebellious, Festive, Intimate, Mysterious, Aggressive, Inspiring, Thoughtful, Exotic, Sleepy, and Playful. You can also create unlimited custom moods by typing or speaking how you feel.
What devices does Mood Dial support?
Mood Dial runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or later. It also works with CarPlay for hands-free mood selection while driving, Siri for voice commands, Shortcuts for automation, Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets for quick access, and Control Center for one-tap mood switching.
Does it use health data?
Optionally. If you grant permission, Mood Dial reads Apple Health data like energy levels, sleep quality, workout history, and mindfulness minutes to suggest moods that match how your body feels. All health data stays on your device and is never collected or transmitted.
Is Mood Dial free?

How is this different from playlists?
Playlists are static lists of songs someone picked. Mood Dial is dynamic. It finds music across Apple Music that matches a feeling, not a fixed tracklist. You never run out of songs, the music adapts to context like time of day and energy level, and you discover artists you would never have searched for because mood crosses genres and languages.
Is my data private?
Yes. Mood Dial does not collect, store, or share your personal data. Health data from Apple Health is processed entirely on your device and never leaves it. The app has no accounts, no tracking, and no ads.
